ANGELES CITY, Pampanga -- City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. on Tuesday issued an executive order creating the Angeles City task force against African Swine Fever (ASF).

Lazatin said the task force will conduct inspections of pork meat and other pork products being sold and distributed in the city.

“The task force will also regulate all pork meat products that enter the city from other towns, cities, or provinces to prevent ASF-infected pork meat from entering and being sold in Angeles City,” the mayor said.

Likewise, he said the task force will conduct a seminar for all stakeholders on ASF awareness, prevention, preparedness and response in case of an outbreak.

He also assured that there was no record of ASF in the city.

He said the intensive efforts of the Angeles City government, through the Public Market Association and City Veterinary Office, have given assurance that meat being sold in the public markets is clean and safe.

Last week, a lechon festival was held at the Pampang Public Market here to prove that pork being sold in the city is safe for public consumption amid ASF concerns. (PNA)
