Zambo police nabs teen, 3 others in anti-drug ops

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- A teenager and three others were arrested while close to PHP50,000 worth of suspected shabu were seized in separate anti-drug operations in this southern port city, an official said Friday.

Maj. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Maiko Bacala, 18; Marlon Barcelona, 49; Alkhaizar Amdan, 38; and Kim Manabat, 26.

Galvez said seized from Bacala were some PHP2,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation around 2:25 p.m. Thursday in Sitio Tierra Pag-asa, Barangay Sinunuc.

Also recovered from Bacala was PHP300 marked money.

Galvez said recovered from the possession of Barcelona were some PHP32,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP300 marked money when apprehended in a buy-bust operation around 2:30 a.m. Thursday along Don Alfaro Street, Barangay Tetuan.

Amdan and Manabat were arrested around 2:40 p.m. Thursday in a buy-bust operation in Barangay San Jose-Gusu, police said.

Recovered from the two were some PHP15,000 and PHP200 marked money, police said.

Galvez said charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be filed against the suspects, who were detained at the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) headquarters. (PNA)
