DAVAO CITY -- A joint World Bank and national government-funded potable water system was turned over to a village in Mati City, Davao Oriental, on Wednesday.

The potable system for Barangay Tagbinonga costs PHP4.1 million, implemented under the Philippine Rural Development Program (PRDP).

Consisting of 32 tap stands, at least 192 households or 960 residents will benefit from the water project.

“We are very thankful for this project because we are able to avail of the Patubig Program of the Mati LGU. It is a very big help to the residents of the Barangay Tagbinonga,” said Barangay Captain Rebecca Tangcaag.

Mayor Michelle Rabat, who was represented by Engineer Rosendo Linsag, underscored the project's "big impact on the lives of the people".

In particular, Rabat expressed gratitude "to the owner of the donated land Mr. Alejandro Tagotnan, barangay officials for the effort and the team of PRDP, and the Department of Agriculture”.

Aside from the two potable water systems, about 10 more projects of the PRDP ranging from spring development to infrastructure are being undertaken.

Mati City currently has 12 PRDP projects amounting to PHP102.5 million. (PNA)
