BACOLOD CITY -- Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro Locsin Jr. leads this year’s Outstanding Negrosanon awardees, who will be honored by the provincial government during the Pasidungog ceremony on November 5, it was announced on Friday.
Locsin, whose family roots are in Silay City, will receive the award for Public Service.
The four other awardees are Rodolfo Reveche, who will be recognized for his contribution to Culture and Arts Promotion for Community Development; Jesus Antonio Orbida, Organic Farming; Charlie Co, Visual Arts; and chef Fernando Aracama, Culinary Tourism.
The awarding rites, to be led by Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson and Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer, will be held at the Provincial Capitol Social Hall at 6 p.m.
It will be part of the province’s commemoration of the Cinco de Noviembre as the day the Negrenses bluffed the Spaniards to gain freedom in 1898.
The program will include the tableau presentation of “The First Bloodless Revolution” by the Kanlaon Theatre Guild of the Colegio San Agustin Bacolod.
Lacson and Ferrer will deliver their respective messages.
In the morning, a flag-raising ceremony will be held at the Capitol Lagoon, to be followed by the presentation and awarding of the 2019 Negrense Centenarians.
November 5 is a special non-working holiday in Negros Occidental under Republic Act 6709 signed by then-president Corazon C. Aquino on Feb. 10, 1989. (PNA)
