4 nabbed for illegal drugs, firearms in NegOr

DUMAGUETE CITY – Four persons were arrested in separate operations by the police in Negros Oriental for alleged illegal possession of firearms and ammunition and illegal drugs in line with its Synchronized Enhanced Managing of Police Operations (SEMPO).

On Wednesday morning, a joint team of police personnel from the Canlaon City Police Station, the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) 65th Special Action Company and the 704th Regional Mobile Force Battalion 7, arrested a resident of Barangay Pula by virtue of a search warrant.

The suspect was identified as Noriel Ferolino dela Paz, 27, of Sitio Villaioa, for violation of Republic Act 1059 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.

The police confiscated from dela Paz a caliber .357 revolver without a serial number and three rounds of live ammunition.

The search warrant was issued by Judge Mario Trinidad of the Regional Trial Court Branch 64 in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Also on Wednesday, a suspected drug personality was nabbed during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Mapot, Barangay Malaiba of Canlaon City.

The suspect was identified as Marvin Dumaboc Amaca, 29, single, and a resident of the same sitio. His name is in the police’s watch list of alleged drug personalities.

During the buy-bust operation, Amaca was arrested for allegedly selling suspected shabu to an undercover agent.

The police recovered during the buy-bust a piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and a marked PHP500 bill used in the transaction.

Subsequently, the police also confiscated three more sachets containing suspected shabu in the pocket of the suspect.

The suspected shabu weighed some 1.90 grams with a Dangerous Drugs Board value of PHP12,920.

Meanwhile, in Vallehermoso town, also in the province’s far north, police arrested two alleged drug pushers during a buy-bust operation in Sitio Kabulihan, Barangay Poblacion Vallehermoso, also on the same day.

The suspects, identified as Julian Francis Serion Caingcoy, 23; and Rolando Cañete Francisco, 28, both single and residents of Barangay Don E. Villegas of that town.

They were arrested around 4 p.m. following a buy-bust operation by Drug Enforcement Unit operatives of the Vallehermoso Police Station.

Confiscated from the suspects were a piece of transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu and a PHP500 marked bill used in the buy-bust operation, one small transparent plastic container, one digital weighing scale, and a black Honda XRM motorcycle without plate number.

The suspected shabu, weighing around 1.2 grams, had an estimated value of PHP8,600.

The police in Negros Oriental is continuing without let-up its operations under SEMPO against illegal firearms and ammunition, illegal drugs, and other forms of criminality, as directed by higher headquarters. (PNA)
