DAVAO CITY -- The Police Regional Office in Davao Region (PRO-11) has reported that its intensified campaign against illegal drugs has led to a total drug haul of PHP1.7 million in October alone.

Brig. Gen. Filmore Escobal, PRO-11 director, said the figure is higher compared to the  PHP1.3 million worth of confiscated illegal drugs in the previous month.

According to the report, police units around the region arrested 171 drug personalities in October: 110 from Davao City; 29 from Davao del Norte; 23 from Davao Oriental; and nine in Davao del Sur.

Nine individuals also died in the period after they engaged authorities in shootouts during law enforcement operations.

Escobal added that PRO-11 also recovered 486 sachets of shabu and 24 packs of marijuana during buy-busts, and search and checkpoint operations.

Topping the month's accomplishment was the arrest of Aiveen Rey Lupo Alimpoos, 37, who yielded PHP1.1 million worth of shabu when arrested here on October 21.

Escobal vowed to implement massive anti-illegal drugs operations "to ensure the reduction of supply and demand for illegal drugs in the whole Davao Region".

“These accomplishments show the strong partnership and collaboration of the Region 11 police, local government units, and the community to sustain a unified mission in eliminating illegal drugs in our region, as well as it sends a strong message against those behind this menace to stop it, now," he added.
