MIDSAYAP, North Cotabato -- Police and anti-narcotics operatives arrested Tuesday morning two alleged big-time drug peddlers and seized PHP377,000 worth of shabu during a drug sting operation in Pikit town, North Cotabato.

Col. Maximo Layugan, North Cotabato police provincial director, identified the suspects as Salahudin Tabara Mabang, 34 and Ryan Dela Cerna Laina, 26, both of Datu Piang Street, Pikit, North Cotabato.

Layugan said police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12 conducted the buy-bust and nabbed the two suspects after they handed over illegal drugs to a poseur-buyer at around 9 a.m.

“The suspects attempted to make a run for it but were collared by the agents,” Layugan said in his report to Brig. Gen. Alfred Corpus, police regional director for Region 12 (Soccsksargen).

Police seized 15 sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street market value of PHP377,000 from the suspects who are now detained at Pikit police custodial facility.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 are being prepared against them, police said. (PNA)
