P47-M illegal drugs seized in NCRPO chief's 1st month

MANILA -- The National Capital Region Police (NCRPO) seized more than PHP47 million worth of shabu and other illegal drugs and arrested more than 2,500 drug personalities during the first month of its new chief, Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas.

In data obtained by the Philippine News Agency (PNA) from October 12 to November 17, a total of 1,274 police operations resulted in the arrest of 2,531 drug personalities and recovery of 6.686 kilos of shabu worth PHP45.467 million.

Also seized were 18,098.51 grams of marijuana worth PHP2,171,821 and 14.11 grams of cocaine worth PHP74,783.

Out of the arrested drug suspects, 1,866 are users while 665 are pushers.

The Southern Police District (SPD) had the biggest number of arrests with 829, while Quezon City Police District (QCPD) placed second with 519, Manila Police District (MPD) with 515, Northern Police District (NPD) with 440, and Eastern Police District (EPD) with 228.

QCPD had the biggest haul for illegal drugs valued at PHP16,696,502, followed by NPD with PHP13,548,740; MPD with PHP11,394,938; SPD with PHP5,422,708; and EPD with PHP654,430.

Sinas, former Central Visayas police director, took over the helm of the NCRPO on October 16, replacing Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, who was promoted as chief of the directorial staff of the Philippine National Police. (PNA)
