DAVAO CITY -- Some 150 children in this city received early Christmas gifts from the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) on Monday during its annual “Pamaskong Handog Alay sa Kabataan 2019”.

Held at DCPO's headquarters in Camp Leonor Domingo here, the activity was the brainchild of former DCPO chief, Col. Alexander Tagum, in coordination with other stakeholders.

In his message, Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte, represented by DCPO director, Col. Kirby John Kraft, said the gift-giving reflected the spirit of Christmas--a "time for the family, thanksgiving and generosity, as it is the season for showing love and compassion to others".

Duterte also urged the DCPO to continue practicing compassion and generosity even after the holidays.

"The city government will continue to support and pursue the means to make this Christmas celebration special for everyone and the less fortunate," the vice mayor said.

In an interview, Kraft said the beneficiaries came from various barangays in the city.

"We choose those less privileged like the Indigenous People children,” he said.

Kraft added that the gifts given to the children include stuffed toys and food packs.

“Apart from that, they were also entertained by mascots during the program,” he said. (PNA)
