Zambo anti-drug ops net 5, P70-K shabu

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Five drug personalities were arrested while more than PHP70,000 worth of illegal drugs seized as the anti-drug operations continued in the Zamboanga Peninsula (Region 9), an official said Monday.

Maj. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office (PRO-9) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Joseph Ramos, 37, a parking attendant; Nelson Jambon, 29, a drug surrenderer; Arnaser Alejo, 43, an alleged newly-identified drug pusher; Alih Jakaria, 36; and John Carmel Ajero, 26, a drug watch-listed personality.

Galvez said Ramos was arrested while in possession of some PHP10,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP200 marked money in a buy-bust operation around 5:30 a.m. Sunday in Barangay Camino Nuevo, this city.

Jambon, Alejo and Jakaria yielded some PHP4,500 worth of suspected shabu when arrested in a buy-bust operation around 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Purok 6, Barangay Diki, Isabela City, Basilan, police said.

Galvez said the three also yielded the PHP500 marked money and several illegal drug paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, Galvez said Ajero was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 9:50 p.m. Sunday in Purok Sakayanon, Barangay Miputak, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

She said recovered from Ajero were some PHP60,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP500 marked money.

Charges are set to be filed against the detained suspects, Galvez said. (PNA)
