BUTUAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development in the Caraga Region (DSWD-13) has recognized its partners for years in the delivery of basic services to the people in the region.

The recognition was an act of gratitude by the DSWD-13 for the unwavering support of local government units (LGUs) and other partners in the area to the effective delivery of services through the agency’s Kabit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan – Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (Kalahi-CIDSS) program.

Clea Mariel Malunhao, the Social Marketing Officer III for the Kalahi-CIDSS in DSWD-13, told the Philippine News Agency on Friday that 55 municipalities in the region were given plaques of appreciation for their unwavering support to the program.

Another 20 municipalities were also given special awards for their outstanding performance and accomplishments through the Kalahi-CIDDS program, Malunhao said.

The handing of plaques of appreciation and special awards was held last Thursday here, she added.

Malunhao said the activity also served as a venue where DSWD-13 partner-stakeholders were convened to gain support and commitment for the institutionalization of community-driven development (CDD) initiatives of the agency through the Kalahi-CIDDS.

“The program also intends to share the technologies used by the Kalahi-CIDSS Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Unit to its partner-stakeholders, which the partners can also adapt and utilize in monitoring their respective programs and projects,” she added.

The Kalahi-CIDDS has been providing social services to the people of Caraga since 2003 and has facilitated more than 3,000 projects to communities.

Malunhao said these projects include water pumps for communities that are far from water sources, farm-to-market roads, footbridges, and other infrastructure projects that would ensure the delivery of social services to far-flung villages in the region.

The awarding ceremony was led by DSWD-13 regional director Mita Chuchi Gupana-Lim with nearly 200 participants coming from the various LGUs in the region and provincial and municipal officers of DSWD. (PNA)
