MANILA — President Rodrigo Duterte was enthralled when he watched the government’s documentary film that tackles the gains and challenges of the current administration’s crackdown on illegal drugs, Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar said on Friday.
In an interview over state-run Radyo Pilipinas, Andanar said the PCOO’s hard work to produce “Gramo” documentary paid off when the President was “very delighted” by its content.
“Hindi madali ang gawin iyan (Producing the documentary film is not an easy task), and the President was very delighted to watch ‘Gramo,’” the PCOO chief said.
“Gramo,” an hour-long documentary launched by the PCOO on Wednesday, analyzes the accomplishments gained by the Duterte government in addressing the drug problem in the country.
The documentary film was released to address the “inaccurate narratives” about Duterte’s anti-narcotics campaign.
“Gramo” is being simulcast in PCOO-run social media pages.
Andanar was ecstatic that the documentary is attracting massive support from the public.
"We all saw it last night. The social media, Facebook likes and loves were burning over PTV (People’s Television) and the other social media pages. Napakadaming shares (This is shared by many). There are more than 2,000 shares,” the PCOO chief noted.
Andanar was also grateful to Local Government and Transportation departments for allowing the public viewing of “Gramo” in public transport terminals and in all villages nationwide.
“The ‘Gramo’ will be shown in all airports, all seaports, and all bus terminals. At kasama rin doon sa mga sasakyan, sa mga bus, sa mga barko na mayroong entertainment, ipapalabas nila ‘yung ’Gramo’ (‘Gramo’ will also be shown in buses, vessels with entertainment platforms),” he said.
“And the DILG (Department of the Interior and Local Government) also will be sending a memorandum circular to all of the regional directors na ipalabas ang ‘Gramo’ sa lahat ng barangay (directing them to allow the public viewing of ‘Gramo’ in all villages),” Andanar added.
Apart from the documentary film, the PCOO also launched a 57-paged magazine titled "Saving the Future of A Nation: Countering Hard Drugs."
The magazine features the key performance indicators on the government’s anti-illegal drug campaign.
Official government data showed that around 5,552 drug personalities have been killed during the conduct of a total of 151,601 legitimate anti-drug operations from July 1, 2016 to Nov. 30, 2019.
The anti-drug operations also resulted in the arrest of 220,728 drug offenders. (PNA)
