MANILA -- The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) seized shabu and other illegal drugs with a street value of more than PHP126 million in the first two months of its acting chief, Brig. Gen. Debold Sinas.

Sinas said from October 16 to December 17, some 17,913.76 kg. of shabu were confiscated in various anti-illegal drug operations leading to the arrest of drug suspects and their cohorts.

He said the amount includes 33,160.17 grams of marijuana valued at PHP3,979,220; some 70.11 grams of cocaine worth PHP371,583; and ecstasy worth PHP11,900.

Sinas said Metro Manila's war on drugs "has consistently gained ground against drug personalities, drug lords, and their coddlers as the fight continues through the anti-Illegal drug operations."

“We aim to eradicate the proliferation of illegal drugs by strengthening and revitalizing units involved in law enforcement, improving the response time and providing a more reliable forensic investigation of crime incidents while focusing more on high-value targets (HVTs) and pushers,” he said.

Over the period, the NCRPO arrested 4,576 personalities involved in illegal drugs.

Last November, Sinas said the war on drugs in Metro Manila was shifting to the HVTs.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) previously said that through a recalibrated drug war, more HVTs would be arrested. (PNA)
