MANILA -- The number of people injured by the effects of Typhoon "Ursula" last week has climbed to 362, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said.
In its update released 6 a.m. on New Year's Day, the agency said this is considerably higher than the 143 reported injured as of December 31, 2019.
The update signed and released by NDRRMC executive director Ricardo Jalad, said the number of dead remained at 50 and missing at 5. Casualties are from Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
Meanwhile, the number of affected climbed to 594,981, considerably higher than 522,460 families reported on December 31.
The former figures are equivalent to 2,405,753 individuals, the agency added.
Affected families are from 2,688 barangays in Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, and Caraga Region,
Also, 409, 196 houses were damaged, 104,576 totally and 304,620 partially, in Mimaropa, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas.
Meanwhile, damage to infrastructure and agriculture in Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas were placed at PHP1,084,761,546. (PNA)
