BUTUAN CITY -- The Philippine Statistics Authority in Caraga (PSA-13) said it has started the month-long Agricultural Wage Rate Survey (AWRS) on Monday.

In a statement sent to the Philippine News Agency, PSA-13 Director Rosalinda Celeste-Apura said the survey aims to generate estimates of the average wage rates of workers in the agriculture sector in the region.

Celeste-Apura also called on the public “to support the conduct of the AWRS that will end on January 31, 2020,” which focuses on the cost of farm labor or the daily wage rates of palay, corn, coconut and sugarcane workers in the region.

Through this survey, the government will be able to determine the national and regional averages and variations on wage rates. It will also generate gender-based data for wage rates and determine the extent of women’s participation in agricultural production activities.

Celeste-Apura said a total of 140 sample households will be interviewed in the entire region by 11 statistical researchers.

The region is composed of the provinces Agusan del Norte, Agusan del Sur, Dinagat Island, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur and six cities -- Butuan, Cabadbaran, Bayugan, Surigao, Tandag, and Bislig

She added that all the data and information collected by the researchers will be considered confidential and will not be used for purposes of taxation, investigation or regulation as provided under Article 55 of Republic Act 10625 or the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013. (PNA)
