Public urged to wear a face mask during Baguio flower fest

BAGUIO CITY-- The Baguio Health Services Office (HSO) has advised residents here to wear face masks and avoid close contact with persons with respiratory infections.

In an advisory dated January 22, a copy of which was released to the media on Friday, the HSO enumerated preventive measures considering the expected upsurge of tourists and visitors in February for the Baguio Flower Festival (BFF).

The HSO said the city has not recorded or monitored any confirmed case of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) which is now spreading in Wuhan in China.

To prevent any of the residents from contracting the respiratory disease, the HSO also advised the public to observe good personal hygiene by frequent hand washing especially after coughing, sneezing, using the toilet before handling food and after contact with sick patients.

"If you have fever, cough, and difficulty of breathing, seek medical care early and share previous travel history to your health care provider,” the HSO advisory added. said.

Coronavirus as an illness where the patient manifests fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties wherein more severe cases, an infection can cause pneumonia and severe acute respiratory syndrome and even death. (PNA)
