MANILA -- Once again, insurance and investment firm Pru Life UK is presenting its award-winning cycling event, the PRURide PH, from March 11 to 15.

The event, which was launched in 2016, is expected to draw more than 2,500 cyclists, including local and international professionals who will vie 10 high-octane categories.

“We are excited to launch PRURide PH 2020 after the success of our first three editions,” said Pru Life UK senior vice president and chief customer marketing officer Allan Tumbaga in Tuesday’s PSA Forum at Amelie Hotel Manila.

The challenging three-day race is accredited by the Union Cycliste Internationale, the world-governing body in the sport, as a 2.2 stage race. It will be the first UCI-sanctioned race in the Philippines this year and for the second straight year is included in the UCI world calendar.

Also gracing the forum presented by San Miguel Corp., Braska Restaurant, Amelie Hotel Manila and Pagcor was race director Ian Alacar.

He said Stage 1 in Clark will cover 120 kms. on a 30-km. loop, Stage 2 in Mt. Samat in Bataan and Stage 3 on a 15-km. loop inside Clark.

The route will feature flat roads, uphill and downhill stages.

“We aim to offer the best PRURide PH yet to professional and recreational cyclists from the Philippines and Asia,” said Tumbaga of the event that aims to engage the growing cycling community in the country and raise awareness on cycling as a sustainable alternative mode of transport and promote health and wellness through its We DO Health Advocacy.

Alacar added that 13 international teams will vie against five local teams. The lineup will be finalized on Feb. 10. More than PHP2 million in cash prizes will be at stake.

Among the celebrity ambassadors of PRURide PH are Gretchen Ho, Kim Atienza, and Zoren Legaspi. (PR)
