TUGUEGARAO CITY -- Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Gen. Archie Gamboa, has called on lawmen to improve illegal drug operations, with more focus on high-value targets and confiscation of higher volumes of prohibited substances.

“Once we improve our anti-illegal drugs operations, there is an implication on the preparation, time, quality of work and the high degree of punishment. When a drug is confiscated and it’s more than 50 grams, the drug personality will suffer different penalty because the degree is much higher,” he said on Wednesday.

Gamboa warned police officers involved in illegal drugs of facing criminal and administrative charges, aside from dismissal.

“I would like to emphasize that in the PNP Internal Cleansing Program, we are implementing swift, decisive and uncompromising (action),” he said.

Gamboa was here to lead the inauguration of the new Police Regional Office-2 (PRO-2) administration building, blessing of a newly-built helipad, breaking of grounds for the Information Technology Center project and Maringal Pavilion, and turnover of 133 Galil Ace 22N-Basic Assault rifles to police officers at the Camp Marcelo Adduru.

Gamboa said the rifles and buildings would be helpful in police operations. (PNA)
