ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) has assigned personnel to "continuously monitor" the teachers and students who recently visited China.
Dr. Elmeir Jade Apolinario, CDRRMO chief, said Wednesday an unspecified number of students and faculty members of a local school went on a vacation to China amid the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).
The 2019-nCoV originated and was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei province.
“We called the attention of the DepEd to cooperate and provide us the report and identities of the teachers and students. So we have now the data,” Apolinario said.
However, he said the students and teachers were all in good health and no one was infected with the 2019-nCoV.
He said the continuous monitoring will ensure “that they are really alright.”
The Department of Health (DOH) said the incubation period of the 2019-nCoV ranges from two to 14 days.
Meanwhile, Apolinario said they are currently holding information dissemination in various schools to instill awareness among the faculty and students about the 2019-nCoV. (PNA)
