IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay -- The provincial government will inaugurate the PHP50 million dialysis center during the 19th founding anniversary of this province on February 24.

Gov. Wilter Yap Palma made the announcement Friday as he clarified that only the activities lined up for the anniversary were canceled but not the commemoration of the “Araw ng Sibugay.”

Palma said the 22-chair dialysis center was constructed in a 482 square meters lot inside the compound of the Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Hospital.

Palma said the project was realized through a public-private partnership between the provincial government and the Davao City-based 99 Commercial incorporated, the supplier of the Fresenius medical care products.

The governor, without citing specific figures, said the dialysis center was constructed since the number of kidney patients has increased in this province.

“This is a big help for patients with kidney problems to save money and travel time in going to Zamboanga City for dialysis,” he said.

He said that the establishment of the dialysis center is part of his advocacy to provide quality health care services to the Sibugaynons.

Earlier, Palma scrapped all the activities lined up for the founding anniversary celebration as a preventive move against the spread of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV).

The governor urged the people to understand why all the activities have been canceled citing his priority is the safety of the lives of every Sibugaynons. He cited the declaration of global emergency by the World Health Organization (WHO)  due to the 2019-nCoV. (PNA)
