SAN FABIAN, Pangasinan -- Some 700 job vacancies were opened by the San Miguel Brewery Inc. (SMB) for residents of four districts of Pangasinan for its brewery being constructed in barangays Bolasi and Mabilao here.

Pangasinan 4th district Rep. Christopher de Venecia, on his Facebook post on Thursday, said his office is accepting resumes of applicants for the job vacancies since SMB is yet to have its own office in the town.

“The positions opened are for skilled and non-skilled workers. The applicants should, however, placed on their resume or bio-data the kind of work applicable to the skills of the applicant,” he said.

He added that the number of vacancies is just an initial to the 2,000 or more workers needed by SMB once the brewery becomes operational.

“San Fabian will become a favorite investment hub of companies for the governance of its chief executive, as well as the peacefulness of the municipality, it is not easily flooded, at it is near to big cities of the Ilocos region such as Baguio City, Dagupan City, and roads leading to the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union expressway,” de Venecia said.

He urged interested applicants to submit their resume or bio-data to his office on A.B. Fernandez Ave. Dagupan City, which is open during office hours Monday to Friday.

In a recent interview, SMB president Roberto Huang said the new brewery will have a full capacity of two million hectoliters.

“This move also signifies that we at SMB believe that as our business grows, so is our contribution to countryside development, and in this case, the development of the municipality of San Fabian,” he noted.

Meanwhile, Mayor Constante Agbayani said the coming of SMB in San Fabian is a realization of his dream of big companies investing in their town.

He described San Fabian as a blessed municipality having a beautiful beach, a national highway, and a mountainous area but remains a “sleeping giant”.

The SMB brewery will be constructed at the company's more than 100-hectare property in the two adjoining barangays. (PNA
