MANILA — Ceres Negros failed to close out its AFC Cup match against Than Quang Ninh as the latter escaped with a 2-2 draw on Tuesday night at the Rizal Memorial Stadium here.

Despite the result, Ceres Negros remained on top of Group G as Bali United absorbed a shock 1-2 defeat from Svay Rieng earlier in the night.

Jermie Lynch broke the ice for TQN as he got past Roland Muller and flicked the ball inside a wide-open goalmouth in the 26th minute.

Ceres Negros rallied back as Bienve Maranon scored a penalty just before halftime and OJ Porteria put the club up with a 63rd-minute goal.

Nguyen Hai Huy spoiled the fun as he scored the equalizer for TQN with a 70th-minute goal after a loose ball scramble inside the box.

Meanwhile, Svay Rieng's early blitz turned out to be just enough to hold off Bali United at the Phnom Penh Olympic Stadium.

Hoy Phallin drew first blood for Svay Rieng in the 12th minute before Jean Mbaga made it 2-0 for the home side in the 19th minute.

Ilija Spasojevic scored for Bali in the 59th minute, but the club failed to score the rest of the way.

Ceres Negros is now at four points, just a point ahead of both Svay Rieng and Bali, which has three each. (PNA)
