MANILA — Kaya Iloilo braved the challenge of the Tampines Rovers, as both sides settled for a goalless draw in their AFC Cup showdown at the Rizal Memorial Stadium here on Wednesday night.

Tampines took the game into Kaya Iloilo, threatening in the 14th minute with a Jordan Webb strike that just went over the crossbar.

Tampines got a huge chance in the 22nd minute as Irwan Shah Arismail found himself with an opportunity inside the penalty area only for Mike Casas to get the huge save.

Jayson Panhay gave Kaya Iloilo its best chance to go on the board with a 28th-minute free kick, but the shot narrowly missed the target.

Casas continued to save Kaya Iloilo's cause in the second half, thwarting golden chances from Madhu Mohana and Boris Kopitovic.

With Casas' clean sheet, Kaya Iloilo remains on top of Group H on a better overall goal difference against Tampines despite both teams moving up to four points.

The result, however, opened a chance for PSM Makassar to knock on the door for the top spot especially that the club defeated Shan United at home, 3-1.

PSM Makassar, currently in third place with three points, will host Kaya Iloilo on March 10. (PNA)
