ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office in Western Visayas (PRO-6) is eyeing to lower the number of administrative cases filed against its men through the intensified internal cleansing program of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

On Wednesday, Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac, the PNP spokesperson, met with life coach coordinators in PRO-6 to advocate the program of PNP chief Gen. Archie Gamboa.

Life coach coordinators from various faith-based communities are seen to help in getting rid of rogue cops.

For the whole 2019, Banac said more than 200 administrative cases were filed against PRO-6 personnel.

“For 2020, our goal is to reduce the number through the preventive component of the program. We will lower the number and it will be our indicator that we are gaining success on values formation program and character development,” he said.

The "squad concept" means one squad leader and a representative from the religious community that will guide more or less six to eight PNP members.

Banac said the PRO-6 has already established its squad through the supervision of Western Visayas PNP regional director Brig. Gen. Rene Pamuspusan.

“We want to inculcate to our PNP personnel the PNP core values of makaDiyos (pro-God), makabayan (pro-nation), makatao (pro-people), makakalikasan ( environment-friendly) and we really need the help of the faith-based community for our values formation program and character development. We will implement this through the squad concept,” Banac said.

The intensified campaign on internal cleansing will not only benefit the PNP organization but the community as well.

“This is not only for our career but also for our family and the people that we serve. We want to be true to our duty to serve God, our country, our people,” he said. (PNA)
