Zambo cops nab 6, seize P403-K ‘shabu’

ZAMBOANGA CITY -- Six people were arrested while some PHP403,400 worth of illegal drugs were seized in separate anti-drug operations here in the region, an official said Monday.

Maj. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) information officer, identified the arrested suspects as Jessie Alegarme, 32; Jonas Perez, 21; Diogracio Teves, 37; Alauya Macabinta, 39; Samsoden Acmad, 33; and, Nerie Maraveles, 27.

Galvez said Alegarme was arrested in a buy-bust operation around 2:15 a.m. Monday in Purok Gumamela, Barangay San Jose, Pagadian City, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

Alegarme is listed as high-value target by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and high-value individual by the Regional Drugs Enforcement Unit-9 of the police.

He yielded some PHP20,400 worth of suspected shabu, PHP1,000 marked money, and illegal drug paraphernalia, police said.

Galvez said Perez was arrested in possession of some PHP3,000 worth of suspected shabu and PHP200 marked money when arrested around 3:40 p.m. Sunday in Barangay Talon-Talon, this city.

Meanwhile, police said Teves, Macabinta, and Acmad yielded some PHP340,000 worth of suspected shabu and three bundles of PHP255,000 boodle money when arrested around 8 p.m. Saturday in Barangay Camanga, Dumalinao, Zamboanga del Sur.

All three are in the watch list of the Zamboanga del Sur provincial office of PDEA.

Moreover, Galvez said Maraveles was arrested around 9:30 p.m. Saturday in Sitio North Curada, Barangay Galas, Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte.

She said recovered from the possession of Maraveles, who is in the police drug watch list, were some PHP40,000 worth of suspected shabu, PHP 500 marked money, and illegal drug paraphernalia.

Galvez said the suspects were detained while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them. (PNA)
