MANILA – The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) warned all online sellers that overpricing essential emergency medicines and supplies are not allowed.

Effective immediately, the FDA said online selling of any of its listed emergency medical supplies that are beyond the price ceiling/range set in the Department of Health's earlier memorandum is "prohibited".

The listed items under FDA Circular No. 2020-005 are as follows:

All FDA inspectors and regulatory enforcement unit agents are directed to monitor all platforms to ensure full compliance with the circular.

In some leading online selling platforms in the country, the retail price of a 500ml ethyl alcohol ranges from PHP120 to PHP150 while disposable medical masks are being sold for as high as PHP42.3 per piece. (PNA)
