BACOLOD CITY -- Some PHP1.985 million worth of suspected shabu were seized by operatives of Bacolod City Police Office in three separate buy-bust operations from Sunday to early Monday morning.

The Police Station 2 scored a major haul of 240 grams of the illegal substance worth PHP1.92 million during the operation in CityVille Subdivision, Barangay Estefania around 7:30 p.m. on Sunday.

It led to the arrest of high-value individual Mark Sy, 20, a resident of Purok Masagana, Barangay 6.

Maj. Sherlock Gabana, chief of Police Station 2, said on Monday that Sy will face various charges before the City Prosecutor’s Office.

These include violation of Section 5 (sale or trading of dangerous drugs), Section 11 (possession of dangerous drugs), and Section 12 (possession of equipment, other paraphernalia) of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.

The suspect yielded 10 big transparent sachets and five plastic ice wrappers containing shabu, two PHP1,000 bills used as marked money, PHP1,500 cash, drug paraphernalia, and an improvised .357-caliber revolver.

Gabana said that Sy has been operating in the villages in the area of Police Station 2, including the suspect’s place of residence.

“This is our third operation against him. We have been monitoring his movement for about a month before this. We did not expect that he is possessing such big volume (of shabu),” he added.

Gabana said that after the transaction was completed, Sy even offered the poseur-buyer more supply of the prohibited substance.

Earlier on Sunday, Wilfredo Delector, 33, was arrested by operatives of Police Station 5 in Purok Abucado, Barangay 20.

At around 12:40 p.m., the suspect yielded eight small sachets of shabu weighing one gram valued at PHP11,000, along with the PHP300 marked money.

On Monday, another high-value individual was arrested by personnel of the City Drug Enforcement Unit during the operation at around 1:10 a.m. in Purok Paraiso, Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago.

The suspect was identified as Renegade Edianel, 31, who was found possessing 12 sachets of shabu weighing six grams with an estimated value of PHP54,000.

He also yielded the PHP500 buy-bust money and is now detained at Police Station 3. (PNA)
