ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — The city government here has started disinfecting all public places to combat and safeguard the residents against the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

The disinfection covers all 76 day care centers, 28 sub-health centers, six rural health units, churches of different denominations, terminals and public utility vehicles (PUVs) and major thoroughfares in the city.

As of press time, the city remains free of Covid-19.

City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said the disinfection follows the protocol of the Department of Health (DOH).

"Aside from travel restrictions and checkpoints, we want to assure everyone that public places are clean and disinfected because lack of hygiene makes the virus thrive and grow. And so, we want to take every single step in preventing the virus from entering our city," he said.

The city government already disinfected public schools during the first week of the class suspension. (PNA)
