Bataan residents told to secure certification when going out

SAMAL, Bataan—Village officials in this province have tightened watch on residents going out of their homes on the second day of the implementation of the Enhanced Community Quarantine in Luzon to combat the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid–19).

Residents were required to apply for a barangay certification before they can travel for important purposes within the town or when going to other towns.

Village councilman Zaldy Lazarte of Santa Lucia here said Thursday that the certification is issued free of charge and permits the applicant to go out of their residence but only for valid and important reasons.

Businessman Romy Ortiguerra said he applied for the certification to attend to an urgent bank transaction in Balanga City. 

Grocery worker Nathaniel Lunares said he needed the certification or he would not be able to enter Abucay town, next to Samal.

“Hinahanapan kami ng certification sa bawat municipal boundary (We were asked for certification in every municipal boundary,” he said.

Barangay chairman Hector Forbes of Santa Lucia and some village officials monitored the strict implementation of the community quarantine, saying the certification will only be given to those who really needed to go out of their homes.

“Hinihigpitan ng bayan ng Samal ang paglabas-masok sa mga mamamayan upang ipatupad ang community quarantine para maiwasan ang paglaganap ng virus. Lahat ng lalabas ng bayan kailangan kumuha ng certification sa bawat barangay (The town of Samal is tightening the entry and exit of the residents for the implementation of community quarantine to prevent the spread of the virus. All those who are going out of this town need to get certification in every village),” he said.

He appealed for understanding and cooperation of all the residents in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19. (PNA)
