BALANGA CITY, Bataan—The Department of Health (DOH) announced on Saturday the second patient in this province with confirmed new coronavirus disease (Covid–19).

Provincial health officer, Dr. Rosanna Buccahan, who is also vice chair of the Bataan Inter-agency Task Force on Covid-19, said the new case, PH303, is a 24-year-old male who is confined at the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center, a government hospital in this city.

Buccahan said PH303 was a dormitory roommate in Manila of PH64, the first Covid-19 case in the province.

PH64 is a Manila university professor, who has been confined at the Bataan St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center, a private hospital here, since March 13.

Both are residents of this province but are working in Manila.

Governor Albert Garcia, who is also the chair of the task force, said that the health condition of PH64 is fast improving while those he had come in contact with, including members of his family, were placed under quarantine.

Garcia asked residents to be calm, practice cooperation and follow instructions from the government to surpass the serious health challenge posed by Covid-19.

The whole province was declared under state of calamity last March 17 with 48 checkpoints set up to implement enhanced community quarantine. (PNA)
