BACOLOD CITY – The Bankers’ Club of Negros Occidental has implemented more limited banking hours and adopted a “no mask, no entry” policy starting Monday as a precaution against the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

The adjusted policies are stated in the organization’s Board Resolution No. 2020-002, a copy of which was provided by Mayor Evelio Leonardia to reporters during the press conference of the Bacolod City Inter-Agency Task Force held at the Government Center on Monday afternoon.

“We find this meritorious and reasonable. We are going to approve this. Let this serve as a notice to the public, especially those who are dealing with the banks. We are going to implement this,” Leonardia said.

Starting Monday, banking hours in Bacolod and other localities in Negros Occidental have been shortened to only 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. until further notice.

According to the resolution, the member-banks are also implementing the “no mask, no entry” policy “as a way to mitigate exposure to the virus”.

As such, “(a)ll bank employees and clients are required to wear masks to be granted entry into the bank premises” and “shall temporarily take off masks as part of security protocol by bank guards prior to entry”.

Wearing of makeshift masks are allowed “in the light of the shortage of medical-grade face masks in the country”, the organization added. (PNA)
