BAGAC, Bataan — This mountain town was placed under extreme enhanced community quarantine on Tuesday following the Department of Health's confirmation that a third patient in this province was found positive of the new coronavirus disease (Covid-19).

Mayor Rommel Del Rosario, chair of the Special Task Force Covid-19, said Bagac is fortunate for not having any Covid-19 case but they have to implement stricter measures so as to prevent its entry and spread.

He said no one will be allowed to enter and leave the town except those authorized by the national government. A 24-hour curfew was also implemented.

“Ang sinumang lumabas ng pamamahay na hindi kabilang sa pinapayagan at walang karampatang dokumento ay ikukulong (Anyone who will leave their house but not allowed to do so and without appropriate documents will be sent to jail),” the mayor said.

In preparation for a possible big number of arrested individuals, del Rosario said the task force sought the permission of the Department of Education for the use of classrooms as temporary holding areas, so they would still be able to implement the social distancing policy.

“The issuance of the home quarantine pass and other authorized certifications are still in effect that checkpoints in place in the national highway and barangays will strictly impose,” he said.

Also under the extreme enhanced community quarantine, social distancing will have to be followed at all times and in all areas in the town. Sari-sari stores will only be allowed to open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Meanwhile, food packs are being distributed to the barangay residents by the village officials, del Rosario said.

“Let us pray that we will surpass this virus and all the sick will be healed,” he added. (PNA)
