MANILA – The Catholic Church has created an online platform to accept requests for Mass intentions amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak.
In a statement on Saturday, Monsignor Pedro Quitorio, Media Office director of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP), said the online platform was created on Friday for those who would like to request for prayers.
Quitorio said people may submit their prayer requests through the website of their news service, the CBCP News.
“Amid the Covid-19 crisis, we are encouraged to make good use of the digital technology for our pastoral concerns and liturgical celebrations,” he said.
Those who wish to request for Mass intentions simply need to fill up a form after clicking on what the prayer request is for.
They have three choices: prayer for thanksgiving, petitions, and the repose of the soul.
Quitorio added that the requests would be given to priests to say Mass online for the intentions.
The public may also find on the website the list of “online Masses” offered in different dioceses all over the country.
Online eucharistic celebrations are being conducted since public Masses are suspended due to the Covid-19 outbreak. (PNA)
