MANILA – Authorities arrested four high-value targets, including two foreigners, and seized PHP70.4 million worth of shabu in Cavite on Tuesday.

In a phone interview, Brig. Gen. Romeo Caramat, director of the Philippine National Police-Drug Enforcement Group (PNP-DEG), identified the suspects as Mohammad Akil Esmail, Saimen Esmail, both Filipinos; Clement Jnr Nwachukwu, a Nigerian, and Starboi Nwachukwu, a Botswana national.

The suspects were nabbed in a buy-bust by the DEG in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency at a mall in Dasmariñas City at around 1:30 p.m.

Seized from them were 11 kilos of shabu.

Caramat said there will be no letup in the crackdown against those persons involved in illegal drugs amid the enhanced community quarantine.

“I am grateful that our men work tirelessly for this campaign against illegal drugs,” he said.

He said the suspects were under surveillance for three months.

The suspects are now under the custody of the DEG and will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (PNA)
