ASINGAN, Pangasinan – Beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) from the six barangays of this town have come together to donate relief goods to their fellow indigent neighbors not included in the program, who are also affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) crisis.

In a Facebook post, the Asingan’s Public Information Office (PIO) on Wednesday, stated that each of the 4Ps beneficiaries has contributed little amount out of the cash aid they received from the national government for them to produce the relief packs.

“Ginawa namin ito kasi sa pambabatikos ng mga tao sa Pantawid parang lahatan na kasi ginagawa nila, kaya nag-isip kami na kahit kaunting bagay eh maibalik namin ang blessing sa kapwa naming mahihirap. Yong perang binibigay ng gobyerno ay pinapahalagahan namin bawat sentimo (We did this because of the negative feedbacks of people against the program, it seems they stereotyped all members so we thought of something to give back the blessing we received to our fellow indigents not included in the program yet. We value up to last cent the money the government gives us),” Angelita Domingo, parent-leader of Barangay Calepaan, said in an interview with the Asingan PIO.

Through the 4Ps beneficiaries effort, they were able to distribute a total of 232 relief packs -- 33 packs for barangays Carosucan Sur, 32 for Toboy Riverside, 75 for Cabalitan, 13 for Dupac, and 79 for Calepaan.

Aside from the relief packs, they also gave PHP500 to Barangay Palaris, as well as snacks and washable face masks for their community’s front-liners.

Meanwhile, a group of 4Ps beneficiaries in Barangay San Leon, Balungao town has donated vegetables from their own garden to their 20 fellow beneficiaries.

The group has its own vegetable garden since 2017. (PNA)
