DAVAO CITY – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 11 (Davao region) said Thursday it has granted more than PHP120 million in cash assistance under its three programs for employees/workers, in both formal and informal sectors, who have been affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) outbreak.

Information officer of DOLE-11, Edward Monreal, said the three programs are the Covid-19 Adjustments Measures Program (CAMP), Abot Kamay Ang Pagtulong (AKAP), and Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD).

Under CAMP, about 12,589 workers from 783 private establishments in the region were given cash assistance amounting to PHP62.9 million.

"This is a one-time assistance of PHP5,000 pesos each given to affected workers due to temporary closure of their establishments," Monreal said.

He said through AKAP, some 550 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) received PHP10,000 each for a total of PHP5.5 million.

Meanwhile, about 13,336 TUPAD beneficiaries from the region were given assistance, each of whom received PHP396 per day for 10 days for a total of PHP3,960, Monreal said.

"The total amount disbursed for this program amounted to PHP52 million," he said.

The TUPAD beneficiaries were identified through the provincial labor offices, in coordination with the different barangays.

Monreal said payouts under the "Tupad Barangay Ko, Bahay Ko" program are ongoing. (PNA)
