MAGALLANES, Sorsogon – Liquor ban will remain in effect in the province despite the shift from enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to general community quarantine (GCQ).

During a dialogue with village officials on Thursday, Gov. Francis Chiz Escudero said it is important that the ban remains to avoid gatherings.

He said drinking sessions would also violate rules on social distancing.

Both the Executive Order No. 37-2020 and Provincial Ordinance No. 26-2020 prohibit mass gatherings as part of precautionary measures in the fight against the virus.

Escudero urged barangay as well as local officials to observe the stringent implementation of the liquor ban. (PNA)
