MANILA – Some PHP61.2 million worth of shabu were confiscated from a drug suspect in an anti-illegal drug operation in Taguig City, the Southern Police District (SPD) said on Tuesday.

SPD director, Col. Emmanuel Peralta, identified the suspect as Gezel Wesley Oliveros, 26, who was arrested in an operation in his residence along Amihan St. in Barangay Ususan on Monday night.

Operatives from the Station Drug Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of Taguig City Police, SPD Drug Enforcement Unit, and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency confiscated a total of nine plastic packs of shabu, a black weighing scale, two PHP100 bills, a PHP1,000 bill, boodle money, a green eco bag, and mobile phone from the suspect.

The seized illegal drugs weighing around nine kilograms were turned over to SPD Crime Laboratory office for chemical analysis and the confiscated cellular phone will be turned over to the Anti-Cybercrime Group for digital forensic examination.

Oliveros will be facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

“This kind of illegal activity will never be tolerated and may this be a stern warning to all criminals the Southern Metro is not a place for them to do their business especially if it’s illegal,” Peralta said.

He also urged the public to continue reporting incidents to NCRPO SMS Hotline numbers 0915-888-8181 for Globe and 0999-901-8181 for Smart, SPD PIO 0921-999-6161; and Infotext National Emergency Hotline 911, Hotline 8888. (PNA)
