BALANGA CITY, Bataan – This province continues to experience an increase in confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) with a total of 107 with five deaths as of Tuesday afternoon.

Governor Albert Garcia, citing a report from the Provincial Health Office (PHO), said on Wednesday that there are five new confirmed Covid-19 cases here, including a 65-year-old man from Dinalupihan, who died the day the test result was released.

The elderly man was among the suspected cases recorded on April 21 but his test results along with those of the four others were only known Tuesday.

The governor said the other new confirmed cases are a six-year-old girl from Abucay, a three-year-old boy from this city, a one-year-old boy from Orani, and the first case in Bagac town, a 28-year-old man.

By Tuesday morning, there were already six new cases and with the addition of five new ones later in the afternoon, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases totaled 11 in just a single day.

Meanwhile, Garcia said the number of those who recovered from the deadly disease was pegged at 22.

Of the 2,141 persons who have undergone laboratory examination, 1,324 tested negative while 710 are still waiting for results.

With the new case in Bagac, only Morong has remained coronavirus-free among the 11 towns and one city in this province. (PNA)
