ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) vowed to continue its anti-drug campaign without let-up even with the 2019 coronavirus disease (Covid-19) crisis.

Brig. Gen. Froilan Quidilla, PRO-9 director, said Saturday that the different police commands in the region have dedicated drug enforcement units to run after traders and users of illegal drugs despite the prevailing health crisis.

Quidilla said they have conducted a total of 722 anti-illegal drug operations in the region since the start of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) last March 16.

PRO-9 units have so far arrested 810 drug personalities who are now facing charges and confiscated 18 firearms of different calibers during the anti-drug operations, the police official said.

Quidilla underscored the "relentless efforts" of the various police units in the "success of drug the war in the region" even amid the ECQ.

He also thanked the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), military counterparts, the local drug abuse councils, and the community for cooperation and support to the anti-drug campaign.

He also called on the public to remain cooperative by informing the police on the presence of illegal drug activities in their community through the “Isumbong Mo, I-ACTION Ko” Hotline Numbers 0977-3102365 and 0961-2977064. (PNA)
