ILIGAN CITY – Northern Mindanao has recorded three new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections, bringing to 21 the total number of cases in the region, the regional health office said Friday.

In a press briefing, Department of Health (DOH) 10 (Northern Mindanao) Director Adriano Subaan said the first of the new cases is a 19-year-old female patient from Cagayan de Oro City, tagged as ID #80554.

”She (had) close contact with the other Covid-19 patients identified as ID #37505, ID #74800, and ID #74867,” he said.

The second new case is ID #80666, a 67-year-old man from Lanao del Norte who has been experiencing difficulty in breathing, as well as fever, cough, colds, and body malaise since April 22.

He is known to have hypertension, Subaan said, adding that the patient has been in an isolation facility since April 29.

He said verification of the patient’s history exposure was ongoing.

The third case is tagged as ID #71186, a 34-year-old from Ozamiz City who was repatriated from the United Arab Emirates when the Covid-19 pandemic broke out. The patient is in an isolation facility in Metro Manila.

As of May 14, eight of the 21 confirmed cases in the region have already recovered after having tested negative for the virus twice.

Seven have died in the region, and six patients were outpatients because they did not exhibit any symptoms. (PNA)
