ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Task Force GenSan has been placed under the command of the Army's 6th Infantry Division, effectively making the unit under the control of the military’s Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom).

“An adjustment has been made as to the area of responsibility between Westmincom and Eastmincom,” Maj. Arvin John Encinas, Westmincom spokesperson, said Monday.

Previously, the task force is under the 10th Infantry Division, which is under the military’s Eastern Mindanao Command (Eastmincom).

Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana, Westmincom commander, welcomed the troops of Task Force GenSan to the Team Westmincom during his visit Sunday at the unit's headquarters in Barangay Bula, General Santos City.

Col. Eduardo Gubat, Task Force GenSan commander, presented Monday the unit's mission, updates and accomplishments to Sobejana, as well as its history, operational approaches, and best practices in addressing the threats being confronted by the unit.

“At present, (there is) no act of terrorism that exists in GenSan,” Gubat said, adding the briefing was followed by a “talk to men” where Sobejana gave his guidance to the troops.
