ZAMBOANGA CITY -- The Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) has deployed a total of 360 newly-recruited policemen in different police stations across the region for a six-month of Field Training Exercises/On-the-Job Training (FTX/OJT).

Brig. Gen. Froilan Quidilla, PRO-9 director, said Thursday the deployment of policemen on FTX is to train them on the different police functions in the field like in patrol, traffic, and investigation phase.

Quidilla said that 180 of the 360 new policemen are deployed in the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) while the rest are assigned in the following areas: Zamboanga del Norte Police Provincial Office, 70; Zamboanga del Sur Police Provincial Office, 60; and, Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office, 50.

He said the new breed of policemen belong to the “Masidtala Class 2019-01” and have just completed the six-month Public Safety Basic Recruit Course (PSBRC) at the Regional Training School-9 (RTS-9) in this southern port city.

He said that under the watch of the Regional Special Training Unit-9 (RSTU-9), the 360 new policemen will be closely supervised by four Police Commissioned Officers and 75 Police Non-Commissioned Officers as their respective Field Training Officers (FTOs).

Capt. Edwin Duco, ZCPO information officer, said field training is part of the required one-year program before new PNP recruits can become full-pledge policemen. (PNA)
