MANILA – The distribution of the second tranche of the social amelioration program (SAP) will soon start as 944 local government units (LGUs) have liquidated the first tranche, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) said on Thursday.

“257 LGUs are finishing up their liquidation reports so in total we have 73.5 percent,” DSWD Secretary Rolando Bautista said in a Laging Handa press briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).

He said a total of PHP99.7 billion worth of cash subsidies under SAP first tranche have been given to 17.64 million low-income households affected by the impact of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.

In a DSWD uSAP Tayo program, DSWD Undersecretary Glenn Paje said the department will soon start the second tranche SAP distribution for 17 million beneficiaries.

“Malapit na ang ikalawang bahagi ng social amelioration program (We are close to distributing the second tranche of the SAP),” Paje said.

He urged for the remaining LGUs to finish liquidation reports so the DSWD can move forward to the validation process.

“Nais po ng pamahalaan na kung ano man ang pondo na nalikom at inilaan para sa SAP, ito sana ay maibahagi sa mas maraming pamilyang benepisyaryo ([The deduplication process is necessary] so the government can provide aid to more families instead of having one family receive two subsidies),” he said.

The DSWD will implement for cashless transactions for the second tranche as advised by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Contagious Disease (IATF).

The department tapped PayMaya as one of the featured payment methods in the ReliefAgad app. SAP beneficiaries may choose to receive their cash aid through their respective PayMaya accounts. (PNA)
