PANDI, Bulacan – Leaders and members of a breakaway group of the militant Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) here said the proposed anti-terrorism measure is very timely and would help remove the threats to the country's peace and security.
In a media statement signed by Lolita de Jesus, chairperson of Kadamay-Villa Lois in Barangay Siling Bata on Thursday, the group expressed support for the passage of the anti-terrorism bill into law.
“The proposed bill aims to secure and protect our freedom from terrorists who are out to sow terror in the country and it is also seen to lessen if not totally eliminate the threat of terrorism in the Philippines,” it said.
The proposed measure would prevent terrorists from establishing terror cells in the country, it added.
“There are foreign terrorists who go to our country to expand terrorism and continue their violent acts, and through this Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020, the spread of terrorism would be prevented,” they said.
The group cited the need for the bill to be enacted into law as it pointed out that terrorism does not choose its victims, time, and places.
“Let us not wait that we or our family members become the next victims of terrorist attacks. Let us support the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 for the Filipino families and the next generations,” it added. (PNA)
