Covid-19 infections among Pinoys abroad breaches 6K

MANILA – The number of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases among Filipinos abroad has ballooned to 6,021 after the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) logged Tuesday 455 new patients in the Americas, Asia Pacific, and the Middle East/Africa.

The DFA also reported 336 new recoveries, bringing the tally to 2,833.

Meanwhile, the daily rate of deaths has decreased from previous figures with 16 new fatalities registered from three countries in the Middle East. The death toll has now reached 442.

Currently, the active cases among Filipinos abroad are at 2,746 -- a total of 89 in the Asia Pacific region, 488 in Europe, 2,011 in the Middle East/ Africa, and 158 in the Americas.

"The DFA, through its Foreign Service Posts, continues to closely monitor updates and developments on the status of our nationals abroad and continues to assist returning Filipinos affected by the Covid-19 pandemic," it said. (PNA)
