LEGAZPI CITY – An alleged illegal drug pusher died in a shootout with anti-narcotics operatives in a drug sting here on Thursday, a police report said Friday.

Manuel Marasigan alias "Kalbo" of Guinobatan town; and Ednalyn Abellano, his live-in partner, were caught selling suspected shabu to an undercover agent at their residence in Barangay Bonot around 3:10 p.m., according to Maj. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Police Regional Office-5 (PRO-5), spokesperson.

Marasigan, sensing that the transaction was a police set-up, drew his handgun and fired at the lawmen, prompting the operatives to retaliate, killing him instantly.

Calubaquib said the victim was in the city’s drug watch list.

Recovered from Marasigan were three sachets of shabu and a handgun.

Abellano surrendered and a sachet of shabu was recovered from her possession. (PNA)
