Lanao Norte village chief faces illegal drug raps

ILIGAN CITY--Police filed illegal drug charges on Monday (June 22) against the barangay chairperson of Lapinig, Kapatagan town in Lanao del Norte who was arrested in a buy-bust operation over the weekend.

Major Rodolfo Dongiapon, Kapatagan police chief, identified the arrested village official as George Paul Go, 41, who is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Dongiapon said the village official is considered a "high-value target" included in the drug watchlist of the Police Regional Office-10.

Police arrested Go Saturday morning (June 20) after months of surveillance, he said.

Go yielded six pieces of sachets containing suspected shabu, four of which were bought by the police poseur buyer during the buy-bust operation.

Dongiapon said the seized shabu weighed around six grams with a market value of PHP45,000. Police also recovered the PHP1,000 bill used as buy-bust money. (PNA)
