Global Covid-19 cases breach 9 million mark

NEW YORK – Global confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) cases topped nine million on Monday, according to data compiled by the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at the Johns Hopkins University.

A total of 472,171 people worldwide have died of the disease, the CSSE data showed.

The United States suffered the most from the pandemic, with 2,312,302 cases and a death toll of 120,044.

Among the countries with more than 200,000 cases are Brazil, Russia, India, Britain, Peru, Chile, Spain, Italy, and Iran, according to the Johns Hopkins tally. (Xinhua)
