4 new Covid-19 fatalities among OFs logged in ME

MANILA -- The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Wednesday registered four new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) fatalities among Filipinos in the Middle East, bringing the death toll across the globe to 512.

The DFA also recorded 27 new confirmed cases and 15 more recoveries in the same region and in the Asia Pacific, raising the overall tally to 8,351 and 5,072, respectively.

"No new reports were received from Europe and the Americas. Furthermore, the DFA confirms receipt of reports from 3 new countries in Asia and the Pacific, which brings the total number of countries and regions with reported Covid-19 cases among Filipinos to 56," it added.

Data from the agency showed that cases remain concentrated in the Middle East with 6,114, at least 2,087 of whom are undergoing treatment. Moreover, a large percentage of the recoveries and deaths among Filipinos were reported in the same region.

"The DFA, through its Foreign Service Posts, continues to monitor the status of our nationals and strives to assist returning Filipinos affected by the Covid-19, whenever possible," the DFA said. (PNA
